Aino Lintunen b. 1990

Biography

Aino Lintunen describes her practice as process-driven painting. She begins by feeling out a direction through drawing and writing. Excessive planning feels constrictive, however; as the process unfolds, the painting itself begins to suggest its own path. Led by the brush, Lintunen’s themes emerge spontaneously, generating new meanings as the work takes shape. The painting often follows its own logic, sometimes veering in unruly directions far from the artist’s original intention. The outcome is invariably a surprise, even to its maker: the brush challenges her to see reality in entirely new ways.

Aino Lintunen (b. 1990) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2022 and from Aalto University in 2016, and has also studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. She has held numerous solo and group exhibitions, and her work is included in several prominent collections, among them the Finnish National Gallery and the Saastamoinen Foundation. Lintunen lives and works in Helsinki.
