Born in Kittilä, Finland 1978 & Bilbao, Spain 1979 I Live and work in Sirkka, Finland
Raisa Raekallio and Misha del Val form the artist duo Raisa & Misha. Their collaborative paintings merge two distinct cultural backgrounds into a singular visual language. Strange characters, mask-like figures, and dreamlike gatherings unfold in cabins, saunas, or northern landscapes—spaces that simultaneously reach into other times and dimensions. Inside becomes outside, depth turns into surface, and human forms dissolve back into abstraction. Their imagery resonates with folkloric traditions and theatrical archetypes, while speaking to contemporary experience.
They have held solo exhibitions at museums such as Aboa Vetus Ars Nova, Turku; Aine Art Museum, Tornio and Kemi Art Museum. In addition, their works have been presented in numerous group exhibitions in Finland and across Europe. In 2023 they received the Artists’ Association of Finland’s Visual Artist Award. Their works are included in significant public and private collections such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Turku Art Museum, Rovaniemi Art Museum, Aine Art Museum, Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation, and the Saastamoinen Foundation.
