Mie Olise Kjærgaard

Overview
You are warmly invited to the opening reception of Mie Olise Kjærgaard's exhibition on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 5 to 7 pm.

Mie Olise Kjærgaard’s work unfolds in large-scale paintings and sculptural environments where women take center. They sail, skate, ride, build, and play music, often with children in tow, moving with urgency and joy. Kjærgaard’s work celebrates the female body as an active, intuitive force, charged with freedom, danger, rebellion, and play. Humor cuts through the seriousness — not to soften, but to sharpen. These are not narratives of perfection, but of persistence, invention, and the courage to act, even when the times are unstable.

Mie Olise Kjærgaard holds an MFA from Central Saint Martins in London and a Master in architecture from Aarhus School of Arcitecture and the Bartlett School of Architecture.  Her paintings have been exhibited internationally at venues such as Trapholt Museum of Art and Design in Denmark, Foundry Seoul in Korea, Journal Gallery in New York, and Barbara Davis Gallery in Houston. Her work is included in major collections such as the Museum of Fine Art Houston, the Saatchi Collection, the Karpidas Collection, and the New Carlsberg Foundation.
