Kim Simonsson in Growth, a Sculpture Exhibition at Kultaranta, the Official Summer Residence of the President of Finland

The exhibition is on view from June 5 to August 30, 2026

New and recent works by Kim Simonsson are currently on view in Growth (Kasvu), the summer sculpture exhibition presented in the historic gardens of Kultaranta, the official summer residence of the President of the Republic of Finland in Naantali.

The exhibition brings together works by five Finnish contemporary artists, and eplores themes of personal growth, the vitality of nature, and the relationship between humans and the natural world. Installed within the living environment of the historic garden, the sculptures open a dialogue between nature and humans while inviting reflection on growth, renewal, and coexistence.

Kim Simonsson’s enigmatic child figures and animal motifs reflect on innocence, curiosity, and respect for nature. Renewing ceramic traditions, Simonsson combines the language of classical marble sculpture with elements drawn from popular culture, fantasy, and gaming. His highly narrative works — inhabited by figures such as moss-covered children and golden astronauts — unfold within uncanny worlds that invite multiple interpretations.

Kim Simonsson (b. 1974) graduated with a major in ceramics from the University of Art and Design in 2000. His works are included in major Finnish and international museum collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, and EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art. Galerie Forsblom has represented Kim Simonsson since 2015.

The exhibition is a collaboration between the Office of the President of the Republic of Finland, the Alfred Kordelin Foundation, and WAM Museum of Contemporary Art.
